Driving Test Car

Why do you need a dual controlled car for a driving test? You do not to be fair, but it is a good idea. During Covid and our time all at home being safe, lots of parents when their child turned 17 years old insured them on their car, and have been taking them out practicing.

Not sure how many driving lessons you will need to take? According to the Driving Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA), you’ll need around 44 hours of professional lessons to pass your driving test. This is just an average figure – it is important to remember that everyone’s different – The DVSA also recommends learner drivers get as much driving practice as possible alongside lessons. To achieve that you will need short term car insurance for you to practice in a car owned by family or friend, something like Marmalade’s learner driver insurance.

Practice

Private practice for a learner driver is the best thing combined with a Driving instructor.
So what should you practice? Just your local area? Test routes, how to get to the local McDonalds? All of them and more. The more practice the better, the more different areas you go to the better driver you will be. Make sure you put into practice what you learn on your lessons when driving, or that defeats the object of using a professional.

You can go to your test in your own car, as long as it has full insurance, MOT etc. But why would you want to? Just use your instructors’ car, it has all the legal stuff that you need, and dual controls just in case they are needed. Obviously if they are used you will fail your test, but they are a safety measure.

Make sure you and the person that you practice with ask lots of questions to your instructor, so you are all doing the same thing, to get a perfect result.

So if your Instructors car for some reason is broken, and off the road, get them to call Berkshire Dual Control car hire, all with the same dual controls etc., so you can stay learning and take your test….
